Sweet, Bitter Goodbye
Written By: Diana L. Brewer
And when I loved it mattered not, for his scars were much to deep. The bandages I
carried were no match for the blood that flowed through his veins. Sweet, cold, and
poisoned crimson soaked the fabric I laid upon the open wounds, eating through it
until it dissolved and nothing was left of them.
I fell to my knees crying, screaming for an answer yet none came to me. I sat for a
time before I opened my eyes and arose. Just then a flash crossed his eyes and I saw
the life inside, the life I wanted to join with mine. The trapped soul inside was beating
through the glassed over eyes. At that very moment I knew the answer. I picked up
what was left of my bandages, wrapped up the wounds that were quickly forming on
me and walked away.
It was only by my leaving that I could release what was trapped inside by taking the
blinding pain with me.
