I Lost You

I think I might have lost you
I opened my arms but you were gone

Though your scent was still lingering there
The warmth of you still felt within my embrace

Your small little cries, still ringing in my ears 
The moisture of your eyes still laying softly upon my chest

I went to your crib, I reached out for you
But in your place lay only a tattered blanket

I choked back the tears, while calling your name
But only silence would call back to me

My child, my son where have you gone?
My life was nothing without you

Your father came in
and stabbed me from behind

Taking all I loved, my dreams, my heart
At that moment it was when I realized

I had really lost you
