Drunk Driving
Written By: Diana L. Brewer
A child, a boy, so small and sweet
A special gift, Mommy's Little treat.
His feet so small in daddy's shoe,
His dreams so big, eyes so blue.
His Birthday comes, they all join to play
This is his very own celebration day!
Mommy's baby just turned three,
He jumps upon his daddy's knee.
They go to play under the clear blue sky,
They turn to see a car speed by.
The man looses control, and starts to spin,
Mommy tries to get her baby in.
She is to late the car hits her son,
She cries and screams "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?"
The man opens his door a bottle falls out,
He was drinking and driving without a doubt.
Another life, sweet and small.
Another Drunk driver has ruined it all.
A special day that was for fun and play,
Just turned into a mournful day.
Now mommy cries, and Daddy won't smile.
They hold him tight for a little while.
They touch his hands, and his little feet.
They kiss his nose, his smile so sweet.
The Doctor says I am sorry he's gone,
How did this day turn out so wrong?
The man who hurt him is safe and sound,
But mommy's baby is in the ground.
